Doug Plummer Wedding Photography Information

Thank you for your interest in my wedding photography services. I specialize in spontaneous, non-traditional, "photojournalistic" photography that captures the essence of the event. My approach is as a participant in the day's events, while remaining respectful of your privacy, and diplomatic and sensitive to you and your guests' needs.

We will need to meet face to face, for you to decide if I’m someone you want at your wedding. Chemistry is critical. References are, of course, available upon request.

Fee: I keep it simple; I charge a single, all-inclusive, all-day fee: $3,000. This covers from the beginning of preparation for the day, through the ceremony, and through the events of the reception. It includes all digital capture and proofs. Travel outside of the Seattle area, or multi-day events priced accordingly. I do not book half-days or partial coverage

What I shoot, and what you get: I photograph with a professional digital camera (Canon 5D, for the equipment geek in you). I will take hundreds and hundreds of photographs. I will pick out the best ones and post them online (I use Shutterfly) for you and your guests to view and order. I also create a proof book (4”x6” prints) of the same images for you. This is typically between 200 and 400 shots. I also produce a small, elegant album of the best 30 or so images, using a Print on Demand publisher. You will also get a DVD with every single shot I took at high resolution. It takes typically 3 to 5 weeks, depending on the season, to deliver prints. Online images generally happen within two weeks.

What about black and white? Sure. If you want some or all of the shots to be in black and white, I can convert them. Typically I do a mixed album of both.

Scheduling group photos: I treat these according to the desire of the couple. For some people it is important to have every permutation of each family in a group shot, and we’ll schedule an hour or more. Others just want a basic parents-siblings group photo, and let’s-get-to-the-reception -already. At some point I’ll want to do a nice portrait of the two of you. If this is an important priority for you, we’ll book it pre-ceremony; otherwise we’ll catch it before the reception.

Throughout the day, I will be either nearby one of you (most of my time is with the bride), or roaming the crowd. Especially after the ceremony, I find it advantageous to linger behind the two of you as you get congratulated by your guests (regardless of whether you have a formal receiving line or not, everyone will want to hug you). My goal is to get at least one photo of all your guests. Before the ceremony, I will be by one of your sides as you get ready, photographing your assorted families and friends as they hover about you. I’m generally quite unobtrusive throughout this, but I can pick up when it seems you need some private time. It that fails, please kick me out.

During the ceremony, , I shoot without a flash, generally from the sidelines, or from a place where I am not too obvious. There may be restrictions regarding photography at your site that I will need to be made aware of.

Terms: A non-refundable deposit of $500 is needed to reserve your date. Balance is due when you pick up your prints.
